Graduating scholars honored
Rajshri Mainthia, Kevin Dholoria, Anne Chandler, Ph.D., Jay Patel, Nitin Yerram, Shil Patel and Arya Namboodiri attended the annual Graduating Student Scholars’ reception, which honors Presidential, Provost and Deans’ scholars.
The VCU Alumni Association welcomed about 100 students and their guests to the annual Graduating Student Scholars’ Reception this spring. Graduating students who were Presidential, Provost or Deans’ scholars were honored for their achievements and encouraged to stay involved in the university after graduation.

Board elects new members
The VCU Alumni Association board of directors met in May for a planning retreat where they worked to revise the board’s mission statement and to set goals for the coming year. Board members also agreed that the association’s primary objective is to increase membership. In addition, it hopes to improve partnership with schools to coordinate activities and foster participation, expand communications with alumni and investigate opportunities for student engagement.

Take me out to the ball game …
Join the VCU D.C. Metro Area Alumni Chapter, the Metro Richmond VCU Alumni Chapter and the VCU Alumni Association for a day at the Washington Nationals’ new ballpark on Sunday, June 29. A pre-game social begins at noon in Jefferson Suites 31-33 and features all the classic baseball fare: hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a cash bar. After the social, alumni can stay in the suite to watch the game or head to their stadium seat location.
